The son of 1999’s Belmont Stakes winner, Lemon Drop Kid, Kid Cruz prefers to hang tight at the back of the pack before kicking into high gear at the top of the stretch and smoking the competition by 2-6th lengths. Kentucky-bred by Machner Hall and owned by Vina Del Mar Thoroughbreds and Black Swan Stable, Kid made an appearance during the 2014 triple crown with a start in the Preakness Stakes and was slated to run in the Belmont Stakes before his connections decided to scratch and run him in the 1-1/16 mile Easy Goer Stakes where he placed 1st, earlier on Belmont day.
