One of the top 3-year-olds in the nation, Medal Count followed the Triple Crown trail securing a spot in the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby, crossing the finish line in 8th place. With the Triple Crown title out of the question, the colt opted out of the Preakness Stakes and rejoined California Chrome at the Belmont Stakes, beating him by ¾’s of a length and finishing in 3rd place – a length and a head behind the victor.  Bred in Kentucky by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC and owned by Spendthrift Farm LLC, Medal Count is a graded stakes winner with experience on turf, polytrack and dirt, and his pace is consistent from start to finish.
