The Maiden’s Pick Four Ticket

All of the horses listed below will be used on a $0.50 Pick Four ticket totaling $45.00 on Pennsylvania Derby Day. 

The Alphabet Soup Handicap

1)     Page McKenney– Won last four starts, two of which have been on at the same distance and on turf.

2)     Roadhog- Last year’s winner is the most experienced of the bunch.

3)     Traffic Light- Might be a shot in the dark, but something about this colt is alluring.

4)     Lightning Electric- Ran 1 1/16 mile Smarty Jones in 1:42¹, last year. Time is closest to track record.

5)     Dancing Lounge- Two second place finishes and three victories make up the avid turf goer’s last five starts.

The Gallant Bob Stakes

1)     Favorite Tale- This son of Tale of the Cat has run in top company and looks promising on paper.

2)     Prudhoe Bay– Ran to a 1:09 win inJersey Shore S. G3, beating Favorite Tale ¾’s of a length.

3)     Pure Sensation– Joel Rosario rides the son of Zensational, who edged-out Favorite Tale the Quick Call S.

The Cotillion Stakes

1)     Sweet Reason- Beat Stopchargingmaria in last year’s Spinaway. Returns to prove she can run with the best.

2)     Untapable- Though she flopped in the Haskell, she is sensational. Expect her to romp on Saturday.

3)     Stopchargingmaria- The highest earning 3yo filly in the nation is on a mission for fourth consecutive win.

The Pennsylvania Derby

1)     California Chrome- The triple crown bid is back looking stronger and faster.  #LongLiveTheKing.

2)     Tapiture- Devastated Candy Boy by a nose in West Virginia Derby.  More than ready to take on the field.

1)     Athelstane- Lightly raced and back on his preferred surface at a nice price.

2)     Page McKenney- FrankiePennington rides this winner of four consecutive races.

3)     Roadhog- The well-traveled turf brawler has been in against much, much tougher.

4)     El Capitan- Won four straight in Mexico City before a poor showing in his U.S. debut.

5)     Atlantic Seaboard- This Stormy Atlantic offspring should be the speed of the speed.

The Gallant Bob Stakes

1)     Prudhoe Bay- The colt’s effort in the Jersey Shore Stakes too much to overlook. 

2)     Pure Sensation- Joel Rosario teams up with Clement on this son of Zensational.

3)     Fast Anna- Edged at the wire by The Big Beast in the King’s Bishop at Saratoga.

The Cotillion Stakes

1)      Sweet Reason- Stretches back out to prove herself at the Mile and 1/16 distance.

2)     Stopchargingmaria- The sharpest filly in the country targets her fourth in a row.

The Pennsylvania Derby

1)     California Chrome- First off the layoff can be a concern, but not in Pennsylvania.

2)     Protonico- Prevailed in the Smarty Jones at Parx last out, despite a troubled trip.
