Belmont Stakes Contender Medal Count
Belmont Stakes contender Medal Count, a Kentucky Derby alumni (8th), will join the 10 other contenders in Saturday’s 146th Belmont Stakes with M/L odds of 20-1. Prior to running in the Kentucky Derby, this son of Dynaformer and Brisquette (by Unbridled’s Song), finished second in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1). His advantage over Triple Crown bid California Chrome is a four week rest having skipped the Preakness in Maryland. Bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC and owned by Spendthrift Farm LLC, will be under the guidance of jockey Robby Albarado – who has had the ride on the 3-year-old since the Transylvania Stakes, held at Keeneland in April. Breezing 6-furlongs and ranking as the fastest of 8 horses to work that distance just this past weekend, Medal Count seems ready to go.
