That was not the case in this year’s running of the Gr.2 San Felipe when Bolt d’Oro’s jockey, Javier Castellano (green cap), intentionally drove him into McKinzie rounding the final turn. It is one thing to try and intimidate your foe by running up alongside and looking them in the eye, but physically crashing into them to get an edge is unsportsmanlike. To watch McKinzie come back from the blow was inspiring.
