Rider Profile: Rebecca Reyes
If you’re a fan of watching the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championships, the name Rebecca Reyes should ring a bell. The 16yr old Saratoga, CA native has participated in a handful of derbies and just recently finished 3rd in the 2013 championships’ Consolation round aboard her chestnut gelding, Dinner For Two (pictured above). Currently a junior in high school, Reyes rides out of Charlebois Farm under the instruction of trainers John Charlebois, Bert Mutch and Haley Perkins and has trained with them since she first started riding at the age of 9. Her love for competing in both the hunter and jumper rings is more than apparent when looking at her lengthy show records, but don’t assume success has come easy – her favorite quote (below) paints a pretty clear picture of what she’s all about.
