Do you ever find yourself doubting your future? Maybe you’re working on something, and have been for some time, and because things are taking a little longer or turning out a little harder you start questioning everything? This week’s Equestrian Inspiration series installment, titled Equestrian Inspiration: Intuition highlights the words of a tech innovator.
If you are familiar with the life of Steve Jobs you would say it is nothing short of inspirational.
After graduating from college in 1972, a young Steve Jobs took a trip abroad to India to study Zen Buddhism and seek enlightenment. He co-founded Apple in 1976 and the company got its first taste of success with the creation of the Apple II, one of the first mass-produced microcomputers. But Jobs learned shortly after that success was much like a roller coaster ride at your favorite theme park. You know, like the old wooden one packed with one too many ups and downs, hard turns, hard stops, and creepy noises that made you question your decision to get on it in the first place.
Jobs was forced out of Apple in 1985 by his own board of directors. He used that time to found NeXT and even worked with George Lucas to help develop the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm, bringing to life the now world renowned company Pixar.
He returned to Apple in 1997 with a mission to revive the company and its technology. He did just that, but was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003, just six years later. Declining health and all, Steve Jobs kept working, doing what he loved. Without his passion for creating and technology, the iPhone would’ve never seen the light of day. The impact that one idea-turned-device has had on the world has altered each and every single human life on the planet.
Though Jobs lost his battle to cancer in 2011, his legacy lives on in the technology he helped bring to life and put into our hands. Because of him, our world is more connected and capable than ever.
So the next time you find yourself feeling a little lost, remember to look within yourself for guidance. I’m of the belief that each of us is here to fulfill a mission. The problem is that society constantly bombards us with what we should be doing that we become overwhelmed and stop paying attention to the signs around us. The only way to overcome it is to stop and listen… to the voice within.
“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs
