Equestrian Inspiration: Beauty

Photographs capture special moments. Any photographer will tell you that. Heck, even non-photographers understand the power of photography. This shot, titled Equestrian Inspiration: Beauty, is all about feeling beauty with the heart.

While on the show grounds at the 2013 Devon Horse Show, Tori Colvin’s horse Ultimo was entering the ring for an awards ceremony. As he was being presented, his disposition and overall presence drew my attention. I started snapping some shots from the media booth even though I wasn’t in the best spot – at least that’s what I thought at that moment. The candid, behind-the-scene photos that resulted tug at my heartstrings. Ultimo’s kind eye and the entire vibe of this shot inspired me. Because the simple matter of fact is that beauty is all around us. Every day. And, while this photograph captured a beautiful moment, freezing what was likely missed in this chaotic, fast-paced world we live in, the emotion this frame elicits in me each time I see it really makes me appreciate Helen Keller’s words.
